We were invited to another Birthday party.
It is a boy form Nicole's class - Malcolm.
After receiving the invitation card, I asked his mom what would she prefer -
a present or a hat. She replied - a hat! Later that day I got her message with
possible hat ideas.
The Mario Star Hat was born.
Let me tell you the secret - I never ever played Mario game!!!!
So I had no idea what I was making!!!
And here is the result.
Little soft ball is for the boy's baby sister.
Birthday boy is so happy to wear it! And his mom said she will borrow it to wear as a cowl.
I don't have pictures of Malcolm in the hat, but promise to post them as soon as I get some.

You know that I like trying different cuisines.
And I do admire everything Japanese.
After watching quite a few videos on Youtube, I liked two and combined both - the traditional and simplified version in my Curry Rice.
Here are some of the mail ingredients. I used - potatoes, carrots, onions, beef, dry shiitake mushrooms, celery, mild Golden Curry mix, wuster, soy sauce.
Cooked everything in a Crockpot.
After it is done - you'll see the sauce thickened.
You should eat it like on the picture - rice just touching the stew. That's how Jason and Nicole ate. I like to mix it all together. I know, I know...very unorthodox, but that's me!
Те кто меня знает, помнят что я люблю пробовать блюда различных стран. А поскольку я особое место в своих пристрастиях отвожу Японии, то следующим блюдом было - Карри Рис. После просмотра нескольких видео на Ю-Тюбе, я выделила два. Первое - классическая версия, второе более привычное и домашнее блюдо. Я использовала - морковь, лук, картофель, сухие грибы шитаке, селеру, говядину, Золотой микс Карри, соевый и вустершир соус. Ну и готовила все в КрокПоте, электро кастрюле. Когда карри готово - соус становиться густым. Кушают Карри рис как показано на моем фото - рис и жаркое не смешивают. Так не принято. Но я смешала, я такая!

Yesterday I finished baking FIMO little heart-dangles for children in Nicole class.
The beaded ones for girls, the plain - for boys.
She signed Valentines and tonight we will pack them in a little baggy, along with Hershey kisses. День Валентина уже приближается! Вчера я испекла свеженькие сердечки-висюльки из Фимо, для Николетиных одноклассников. С бусинками - для девочек, простые для мальчиков. Она подписала валентинки. Сегодня вечером мы упакуем все в пакетики и конечно вложим шоколадную конфетку Кисс от Хёрши.
For the teacher I made this quick cute Button Necklace.
Very easy! Для учителя я быстренько связала крючком эти бусы из Пуговиц. Довольно быстро и легко!
I also made a dress for Nicole.
Just a simple t-shirt style dress.
I used Ottobre design stand alone pattern # 301 from Creative Workshop - The best T-shirts.
This one is a fitted T-shirt. Сшила платьице-тунику для Николетты. Простенькое и удобное платьице. Использовала выкройку от Оттобре, это отдельная выкройка № 301. Брала приталенную версию.
At first I thought it is going to be a long sleeve T, but since I got some fabric leftover, cut a strip and attached a skirt.
I used 1 yard of clearanced cotton-jersey from JoAnn, a length of fold-over elastic, my conventional sewing machine, serger, and an iron-on applique.
I know it is a Valentine dress, but Nicole also looks good in blue, since she has pretty blue-grey eyes.
Dress fits well and child is quite happy. Сначала я намеревалась сделать футболку с длинным рукавчиком, но поскольку еще оставалась ткань, то пришила и оборку. Получилась милая туника. Использовала соттоновое джерси с распродажи, аппликацию, резинку для горловины, обычную машинку и оверлок. Я знаю что на Валентина желательно одеть что-то розовое или красное, но Николете очень идет голубой. Ее серо-голубые глазки становятся очень яркими в голубом. Платьице сидит на дочери хорошо и она очень им довольна.
I found this cool videos from eliZZZa on knitting Entrelac Hat, top down and decided to try it.
I found some acrylic yarn and went on.
Started with DPN's and then switched to circular needles.
Really liked to work "backwards purling". First time I've read about this technique in EZ books.
Here you see what I've got.
I have about 7 rows of entrelac squares. And it creates a beret or slouchy hat.
For a regular hat I would need to knit less rows of squares, I guess.
Needles - 4.5 mm for hat body and 4 mm for the band Yarn - variegated acrylic, worsted weight

No secret that here, in America, we love Mexican food. It is easy, fast, and yummy! I use my cooked beans in chili, burritos, borscht, soups, Taco-salads, salads, etc... Nicolette likes to eat this beans with dollop of butter.

I would like to share with you one way of preparing Pinto Beans. I learned it a long time ago, while attending MOPS meetings... Hope you like it too. So, that's how I do it

Итак, как это делаю я
You'll need - 3 cups of dry, washed Pinto beans 6 cups of boiling water 3 tsp salt 1 bay leaf All ingredients go into the Crock Pot On High setting you leave it for 3 hr, on medium - 6 hr or till beans are soft. Convenient to do it overnight. Beans are ready in the morning! Make your meal or cool them down and transfer with the juice (in plastic containers) to fridge/frizer. When you are ready to make re-fried beans - brown hamburger meat in a skillet with onions, taco seasoning, and add beans with juices. Cook and mash with potato masher. Вам понадобится - 3 стакана фасоли 6 стаканов кипятка 3 ч.л. соли 1 лавровый лист
Все уложить в електро-кастрюлю, включить на полную температуру и оставить на 3 часа.
Или на средней температуре на 6 часов. Удобно это делать на ночь. Фасоль готова!
Остудить и разложить по пластиковым контейнерам, в той же жидкости.
Хранить в холодильнике или морозилке.
Или тут же приготовить что-то с фасолькой.

I looked at my yarn and thread collection and choose dark red.

yarn - Aun's Lydia, 2 balls
hook - 2.5mm
size - 7.5"=19cm
I made a few swatches with different yarn weights and choose Aunt's Lydia crochet thread hold double.
The ring I cut out of the plastic yogurt lid.
It worked out great!
The handle is a little shorter and I like it this way.
Tried out some fancy edging on the middle flower with metallic-lurex thread, but was not pleased with the result.
So, I left the middle as is but edged the handle and opening.
